Integrative Canadian Oncology (ICON) Research Initiative

The Integrative Canadian Oncology (ICON) Research Initiative aims to provide a vision and a voice for integrative oncology research in Canada.

Given the increased focus on the integration of evidence-based CAM and conventional cancer treatments, the former CAM and cancer Canadian research team decided to shift its research endeavors to integrative oncology rather than CAM alone.

ICON's objectives are to:

  • conduct research (creation of knowledge) and use innovative approaches to the investigation of integrative oncology
  • synthesize knowledge related to integrative oncology
  • facilitate knowledge dissemination and exchange that impacts integrative oncology practice, policy and future research

ICON's co-chairs are Anne Leis, PhD and Marja Verhoef, PhD. Its founding members also include: Lynda Balneaves, PhD, Heather Boon, PhD, Doreen Oneshuk, MD, Stephen Sagar, MB BS MRCP FRCR FRCPC DABR, and Dugald Seely, ND, MSc.
