Current evidence from randomised clinical trials is not sufficient to support or refute the use of black cohosh for hot flushes in women with breast cancer. Extracts from the plant Cimicifuga racemosa do not work better than placebo, but a better improvement was found when used in combination with tamoxifen. This benefit needs to be confirmed in rigorous clinical trials
