Findings of clinical investigations in brain tumour patients suggest a possible improvement of subjective symptoms, clinical status and/or radiological signs of brain edema in some study participants. Due to methodological limitations, some observed effects are questionable and others are not attributable to the intervention with reasonable certainty. No effect against tumour size was attributable to Boswellia extracts in these studies. Reported adverse effects mainly affected the gastrointestinal system and the skin.

To summarise, no certain conclusions can currently be drawn on the effect of orally administered Boswellic acids or Boswellia extracts on peritumoural brain edema or brain tumours in humans.
